The Subtitles in: The Westward Ho

ECMAs in the morning.

Ruby, Kirk, Paula and I are jumping into a borrowed Saturn Vue and heading in a 4-car caravan to Corner Brook. We’re making mixed CDs and finishing RPM projects and printing posters and polishing the gear for our shows this weekend. The energy of the ECMAs has made it’s way right down to The Battery – I could see it in Angie’s eyes this morning.

The times and dates of our scheduled shows are listed on the poster above (thanks Shaun) plus there is a possibility that there are 2 more happening. I’ll keep you posted.

I’ll update this as much as I can but make sure to check out Ruby’s blog at The Signal - she’s sure to be more on the ball.

Here we go!

OH! Download our newest EP.

Mightypop ECMA No-Cases

Only a month away and the fun of going to Corner Brook for a weekend to drown in music, musicians and the characters they attract is already taking a good portion of my thinkings.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be writing about what’s going on:

For every showcase there’s a no case:

The team at Mighypop (responsible for bringing in some of the most ridiculously good acts Town has seen in ages) have put together a brilliant 4 days/nights of music including bands such as Matt Mays, The Superfantastics, The Pathological Lovers, Idlers, The Subtitles (!!!!), Sleepless Nights, Sherman Downey… I’ll just post the schedule:

The Superfantastics

Sherman Downey

January 26th, 2009 by admin

Sherman Downey – or Sherm Sherm as I like to refer to him – is the undisputed Prince of Corner Brook. Any given weekend finds him playing for the healthiest of crowds in the healthiest of towns (seriously, everyone from CB is pretty fit) and he’s a pretty good guy to boot. His style is Paul Simon eats Mason Jennings with a set-up that ranges from 2 guitars to a 6-piece folk barrage and his songs are innocent to the point where you want to sit on the floor in front of him and play dinkys while swaying back and forth in glee.

Sherman is finishing an album that should be out and around by the summer and I’m sure he’ll be a ring leader of sorts when the ECMAs hit Corner Brook at the end of February.
